Mutter and mumble low

Son marionetas que van y vienen
Mere puppets they, who come and go
En la oferta de vastas cosas sin forma
At bidding of vast formless things
Que cambian el escenario de un lado a otro
That shift the scenery to and fro
Alejando de sus alas de cóndor
Flapping from out their condor wings
¡Ay invisible!
Invisible woe!
Ese drama abigarrado
That motley drama- oh, be sure

With its phantom chased for evermore

A crawling shape intrude!

The scenic solitude!

It writhes!- it writhes!- with mortal pangs
Los mimos se convierten en su alimento
The mimes become its food
Y los serafines sollozaban a los colmillos de las alimañas
And seraphs sob at vermin fangs
En sangre humana imbuida
In human gore imbued
¡Fuera, fuera, las luces, fuera todo!
Out- out are the lights- out all!
Y, sobre cada forma temblorosa
And, over each quivering form
La cortina, un pall funerario
The curtain, a funeral pall

Comes down with the rush of a storm
