We’ve left our home on a ‪Friday Evening

We are crossing all of West Virginia
Southbound to Tennessee

I've waited for a lifetime
To realize a dream
I'm standing at the Gates of Heaven

A song I heard a long time ago
When I was just a Kid
It tells the tale of humble child
Who grew up to be King

His singing come straight from heart
His music from the soul
It went so far around the globe
To places you don’t know

But then one day at forty-two
He rode into the sun
His magic spell is still around
And it’s second to none

As I recall that Godless day
And the flowers at his door
The whole of earth did cry for him
As it never had cried before

And now I stand on that very spot
I'm holding back a tear
But also bring a smile with me
To sing this melody

I bow before his majesty
I thank him for his art
It always kept me company
We never broke apart
