Starwood, heartwood, timbers of old
Singing the embers that keep us from cold
Songs of our fireside, faces aglow
Lighting the darkness of our earth below

Littlewood, roundwood, new wood so bold
Redwoods, the talkers of forests we're told
Moving elders stretch for the stream
Follow on down and recover the dream

Carpet of snow that covers the wood
Landing in gardens of slumber
Billowing white on each limb and leaf
Tears from the stars are falling and weeping

Trees in the moonlit silvery groves
Sheltering oaks leaning over the ash
Canopy cradles and filters the air
As the last timber holds fast

Wood of ages, keepers of time
As leaves in the dark and their branches entwine
Whisper the trees, look to our past
Deep in the heartwood we find home at last
