Absolution

It's not as easy getting numb
Deny the thing that you've become
You'll be sorry for the things you've said and done
Take a good look at yourself
You're just like everybody else
We make excuses for the things we can't outrun

If everything I've ever done was wrong
Then thanks to you for pointing out
My glaring and my smallest imperfections
Let this be a lesson
I was only trying to set things right
There's no absolution
There is only will and means
Selling faith to whoever will buy

I guess it's easier for some
To just ignore this droning hum
But you'll be sorry for the things you've said and done
The true believers tell themselves
They're not like anybody else
Do you believe that you've been true with anyone?
